                        Martha, our Licensed Audiologist

If you're in need of a hearing evaluation, or if you are interested in hearing aids, you will be professionally evaluated by our licensed audiologist, Martha Drummond, M.Ed. CCC-A.  Ms. Drummond received her initial training in audiology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, receiving her Master’s Degree in Audiology in 1979. Since then, she maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Hearing-Language Association, regularly attending educational seminars to keep current with latest technologies and research in the field of Audiology.

She is also a member of the American Academy of Audiology, the Connecticut Academy of Audiology, and the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology.  She is trained to fit a variety of different hearing aids, including the latest digital technologies represented in the Phonak, Oticon, and Widex lines.  Specialty devices such as Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA): and tinnitus maskers are also available when medically appropriate.

With the help of our audiologist, we are able to offer our patients comprehensive assessment of hearing loss, tinnitus evaluation, and counseling regarding hearing aids and assistive listening devices. Customized molds for hearing protection (general noise protection –Musicians Ear Plugs and other custom earplugs for swimming).  Custom ear molds for hands free cell phone use and IPOD use are also available.

When hearing loss is of a type and degree that hearing aids are an option, information regarding the latest digital hearing aids is available. The best hearing aid for any given individual will depend on their hearing loss, ability to care and use a hearing aid, and cosmetic concerns.  Hearing aids vary in price depending on the sophistication of circuit and style.  A wide variety of hearing aid choices of hearing aids and assistive listening devices are available.

Our audiologist counsels patients regarding the full range of options, tailoring recommendations to the needs of each patient. Full training regarding the use of hearing aids and verification of patient satisfaction are obtained in the fitting process. Payment plans are available through CARE CREDIT. In some cases, specific health insurance plans will cover hearing aids.
