licensed audiologist, Martha Drummond, M.Ed. CCC-A. Ms.
Drummond received her initial training in audiology from
Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, receiving
her Master’s Degree in Audiology in 1979. Since then, she
maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the
American Speech-Hearing-Language Association, regularly
attending educational seminars to keep current with latest
technologies and research in the field of Audiology.
She is also a
member of the American Academy of Audiology, the Connecticut
Academy of Audiology, and the Academy of Rehabilitative
Audiology. She is trained to fit a variety of different
hearing aids, including the latest digital technologies
represented in the Phonak, Oticon, and Widex lines. Specialty
devices such as Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA): and
tinnitus maskers are also available when medically
appropriate.
With the help
of our audiologist, we are able to offer our patients
comprehensive assessment of hearing loss, tinnitus evaluation,
and counseling regarding hearing aids and assistive listening
devices. Customized molds for hearing protection (general
noise protection –Musicians Ear Plugs and other custom
earplugs for swimming). Custom ear molds for hands free cell
phone use and IPOD use are also available.
When hearing
loss is of a type and degree that hearing aids are an option,
information regarding the latest digital hearing aids is
available. The best hearing aid for any given individual will
depend on their hearing loss, ability to care and use a
hearing aid, and cosmetic concerns. Hearing aids vary in
price depending on the sophistication of circuit and style. A
wide variety of hearing aid choices of hearing aids and
assistive listening devices are available.
Our
audiologist counsels patients regarding the full range of
options, tailoring recommendations to the needs of each
patient. Full training regarding the use of hearing aids and
verification of patient satisfaction are obtained in the
fitting process. Payment plans are available through CARE
CREDIT. In some cases, specific health insurance plans will
cover hearing aids.
